Coronary Heart Disease: Causes, Effect, and Protection
As we know that the heart is one of the vital organs which works continuously and supply purified blood to the entire organ of the body. Hence the heart health is more important. There is various heart disease which can cause trouble in the circulatory system. Here in this blog, I am going to discuss one of the primary heart disease, i.e., coronary heart disease. The coronary heart disease is a condition in which the coronary arteries because narrow in size due to which the flow of the blood reduces from the average level. Coronary heart disease is also known as coronary artery disease, coronary heart disease, and coronary microvascular disease.
The coronary heart disease occurs when the cholesterol accumulated on the wall of the arteries and forms plaques which result in the lower blood flow. Coronary heart disease (CDC) is a common heart disease in the United States and kills more than 370,000 lives each year. The primary symptoms of coronary heart disease are chest pain (angina pectoris), shortness of breath, heart attack and many more.
What is the leading cause Of Coronary Heart Disease?
It is believed that coronary heart disease mainly occurs due to the damage to the inner layer of the coronary artery. Once the damaging of the artery occurs the cholesterol molecules tend to accumulate at the site of the injury, the process of accumulation of cholesterol at the website of the damage is called Atherosclerosis. If the surface of the plaques rupture, the blood cell is known as palates will clump at the site of the injury to repair the artery which can block the artery and result in the heart attack.
What Is The Causes Of Coronary Heart Disease?
As it is mentioned in the above paragraph, the CHD occurs due to the injury in the coronary artery, and the primary cause of the damage of the coronary artery is
- Smoking
- High blood pressure or hypertension
- High Cholesterol
- Diabetes
What Are The Main Symptoms Of Coronary Heart Disease?
In the case of the coronary heart disease, your heart doesn’t receive enough amount of oxygen-rich blood, especially during the exercise. The CHD develops in decades; hence most of it doesn’t show any symptoms in the starting phases. Although the coronary heart disease shows various signs some of these are given below:
1. Chest Pain or Angina
You may experience pressure or tightness in your chest, as someone is standing on your chest. This pain is referred to as Angina which initiates from the middle or the left side of the chest, and the Angina mostly trigger because of the physical or emotional stress.
2. Shortness Of Breathing
As we know that blood carries oxygenated or oxygen-rich blood to the heart and the other organ of the body. The CHD leads to the shortness of breath because in this condition the heart and other cells receive less amount of oxygen.
3. Heart Attack
Heart attack or myocardial infarction occurs when the heart doesn’t have enough blood or oxygen, in that case, the muscle of the heart dies, and a heart attack takes place. The heart attack is the cause of complete blockage of the coronary artery. The basic or primary sign & symptoms of the heart attack are crushing pressure in your heart, pain in your shoulder or arms, sweating & shortness of breathing.
How To Prevent Coronary Heart Disease?
Maintaining cholesterol level is one of the significant factors which reduces the change of coronary heart disease. Here is some of the substantial factor which reduces the chance of the CHD.
- Control body cholesterol level
- Includes physical exercise in your daily life
- Quit smoking
- Limit alcohol intake
- Avoid consuming tobacco
- Include healthy food in your diet
- Reduce sugar & salt intake

The coronary heart caused more than 23% death in the United States only in 2008, and according to the Centers For Disease Control & Prevention (CDC), more than 735,000 American suffer from coronary heart disease and heart attack. If you are suffering from any heart-related issues then immediately contact your doctor.
